He has 30+ Years of working JV & Varsity Football, Varsity Basketball, & Varsity Baseball games - Ball boy, clock/scoreboard operator, scorebook keeper, equipment manager, & super fan. He was a 2016 Inductee into the Socastee Athletic Department Hall of Fame. Robbie has missed 7 Varsity games in 33 years of service to Socastee HSI
Coach Hampton along with his son Atticus was presented with the SCAAA Travis Perry Braveheart Award.
For Coach Hampton, football has always been more than a game. It is his passion, his purpose, and his safe place. But a year and a half ago, life asked something far greater of him than any season ever could.
On September 29, 2024, his son Atticus was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia. In an instant, everything changed. Coach Hampton stepped away from the daily responsibilities of leading his team to be exactly where he was needed most—by his son’s side in Charleston, more than two and a half hours away from home.
And yet, even in the midst of an unimaginable challenge, his commitment never wavered. He did not miss a single game during the regular season. Week after week, he showed up—for his players, for his program, and for a community that means so much to him.
But perhaps even more powerful than his presence was the strength behind it. The strength of a father. The strength of a family. And the strength of a community that rallied around him in ways that words can hardly capture.
The Socastee High School family lifted the Hamptons with unwavering support, reminding us all that football is not just about what happens under the lights on Friday nights—it’s about the bonds we build, the lives we touch, and the way we show up for one another when it matters most.
Today, Atticus is still bravely fighting, but he is home and healing. And just like his father, he continues to show up—with courage, with heart, and with an unbreakable spirit—cheering on the Braves every step of the way.
The impact of Socastee High School on the Hampton family is immeasurable. And the impact of Coach Hampton on his players, his school, and his community is just as profound.
Thank you both to these outstanding men that help make Socastee a great community!
