Renfrow Family Field at Braves Stadium

The field at Braves Stadium is named in honor of the Tim and Suzanne Renfrow Family. Tim Renfrow came to Socastee High School in 1988 and over the next 32 years served as Head Coach of four varsity sports and Athletics Director (twice). While at Socastee he married Suzanne, who became a Guidance Counselor at Socastee, and the couple had six children. All of the children were involved in the athletic program, both as participants and supporters. Chelsea, the oldest, was a cheerleader. All of the boys, Ayres, Jordan, Hunter, and Cole played varsity football along with their individual interests in baseball, soccer, and basketball. The youngest, Joy, was seen on Friday nights retrieving the football after extra point and field goal kicks from the time she could walk and in high school was a member of the tennis, basketball and softball teams.
To know the Renfrows was to know their strong faith in God and commitment to family and serving others. Each was a model of commitment to Socastee High School and this entire family has left a legacy of excellence and service that will stand as an example for others in the years to come.

This fieldhouse is named in honor of Dr. Paul K. Browning who served as Principal of Socastee High School from 1998 to 2017. Dr. Browning was a champion for all students and the school made tremendous strides under his leadership. His professional life was a testament to the power of a brilliant mind and a “don’t take yourself too seriously” outlook. Everyone he touched benefited from his firm hand and kind heart. One of his favorite expressions was “HIT”, which stood for “Hang in There”, encouraging all to remember that perseverance is the key to ultimate success! He also loved to remind students and staff that “The Best Don’t Rest!”
